Class Overviews
Baby Ballet
(18 months - 2yrs)
The class teaches the positions of the feet and simple ballet techniques. Imagination is constantly utilised and self-expression developed, whilst co-ordination, balance, independence and confidence are enhanced. These classes have a little more structure than Tiny Tots and are the next step in preparing children for the ballet grades.
Mini Ballet
(2yrs - 4yrs)
The class is a fun and magical exploration of ballet through the eyes of a child. It develops confidence, agility and co-ordination, using magic wands, instruments, scarves and teddies. Sing along to the nursery rhymes whilst learning ballet steps, this class is perfect for those tiny tots desperate to dance!
RAD Ballet - Grade 1 to Grade 8
The RAD Dance syllabus provides a broad practical dance education and develops technical, musical and performance skills. The Graded syllabus incorporates ballet, free movement and character. Ballet: the foundation and the most important part of the syllabus. Free Movement: it has been influenced by and incorporates movements in common with other dance styles such as Natural Movement, Contemporary and Classical Greek Dance. Character: the theatrical presentation of national dance using original ethnic dance and music which has been freely adapted for the theatre. The three styles – Hungarian, Russian and Polish – were selected because of their historic importance in the development of the nineteenth century full-length classical ballets.
ISTD Modern, Jazz and Tap
The classes work towards ISTD Modern graded and vocational examinations from Primary to Advanced 2. The syllabi explores varying rhythms and musical styles and a contrast between expansion and relaxation. The children learn to isolate the body and develop core strength and flexibility. We also work towards the Jazz Medal awards.
Adult Ballet
Beginner and intermediate classes for all adults. The classes follow the RAD Ballet syllabus whilst remaining fun and relaxed.
Develops fitness, flexibility, strength and agility.
Adult Tap
No experience needed. Fun classes for all levels. Develops fitness.
Pointe Work
Pointe Work is part of classical ballet technique in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet. Pointe classes will develop technique and strength in feet. Children will be invited to join Pointe Classes when their feet are fully developed and they are technically ready.
